PROGRAMMING NOTE from the Author and Archivist

So obviously I just stopped blogging on this platform. I'll get back to it eventually. Or not. I'm taking a break from all social media. It seemed necessary for my mental health.

The last few years have been busy and … challenging:

- 2015 Happened.
- 2016 Let's call it The Lost Year. (Obviously words failed me.)
- 2017 about broke me. Literally. Mentally.
- 2018 was ridiculous, proving 2017 was just a warm up. (Good thing I was already broken so it couldn't hurt as much.#2018TrashCanFire I thought things were going okay, but maybe not?)

- 2019 was such a blur. I know there were highlights, but then stuff happened and carried into the next year...

- And then in March#2020 really took a turn. Who can even categorize 2020? Do we dare?

I kinda want a do-over of some of the last few years. But life doesn’t work that way.

So for now, I'm hunkering down. Regrouping. Trying to stay safe and sort some stuff out.

Stay safe everyone. Stay well.

Quote of the day: Downtime Justificiation

via the Twitters

Justification for why my posts aren't so comprehensive lately. I'm RESTING my brain from some other pressures.

Photo of the Day: Play it Buddha

"You should sit in meditation for twenty minutes every day -
unless you're too busy; then you should sit for an hour."
~Zen Proverb

Or just chill like this Buddha, strumming your guitar on a random awning on the East Side.

I get bored sitting in meditation. I'm better walking or baking.

Photo of the Day: When the Snow Flies

March Storm, Thursday, March 7, 2012
I was walking to the train late last night as the snows fell, the dark swallowing up my shadow, blurring me into one of the faceless mass of humanity in the City, being so grateful for this place - New York City - where you can blend into near invisibility. The March snow came down and the words swam up out of my subconscious. Better poets than me say it best.
A winter's day
In a deep and dark December*;
I am alone,
Gazing from my window to the streets below
On a freshly fallen silent shroud of snow.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

I've built walls,
A fortress deep and mighty,
That none may penetrate.
I have no need of friendship; friendship causes pain.
It's laughter and it's loving I disdain.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

Don't talk of love,
But I've heard the words before;
It's sleeping in my memory.
I won't disturb the slumber of feelings that have died.
If I never loved I never would have cried.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

I have my books
And my poetry to protect me;
I am shielded in my armor,
Hiding in my room, safe within my womb.
I touch no one and no one touches me.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

And a rock feels no pain;
And an island never cries.

Photos of the Day: Urban Meditation

Sometimes the City can be an overwhelming sensory blur. In all the rush, you can get stressed out and miss things.

If you slow down, take some time off, and explore on off hours, you can see new things, in places you weren't expecting them.
